“One of the biggest detriments to accuracy is lack of cleaning or poor cleaning habits,” Bill Goad. Premier Accuracy has been inspecting a lot of hunting rifles with a bore scope and this demonstrated that the majority of premature barrel wear has been from poor cleaning techniques. There are many solutions for this on the market but no one offered a high quality product that was versatile enough to fill the need for many rifles. Then The Premier Accuracy Bore Guide was thus born.
The beauty of this product is not just its affordability, but also it versatility. Now, versatility usually reduces product performance, however Bill Goad has overcome this by making his bore guides out of four basic parts that are all interchangeable. They are the Bore Guid Body, tip, action sleeve and rod guide. Three of these components can all be interchanged for various types of rifles and chamberings of any kind. This modularity allows it to fit any need with professional functionality preserved. From the AR-15 gas gun to the Large 338 Lapua Magnum Bolt actions the Premier Accuracy Bore Guide can have all of its parts interchanged to tailor fit any of these specific needs.
I like to collect many vintage rifles and have never found a product that fit every rifle I had till I tried the Premier Accuracy Bore Guide. Every rifle I have, from my collectible Remington Mosin Nagants serial #9, to my most modern custom action 6mm BRX, will fit my Bore Guide by simply changing a few parts. Changing parts is easy to and accomplished in just a few seconds.
The interchangble tip of the bore guid centers the bore guid with the chamber of the rifle using that part of the chamber that supports the cartridge to center the entire bore guid to the bore. Another good design element in this bore guide is that the Bore Guid body is long enough to put the solvent port back behind the tang of the rifle. This keeps solvent away from open portions of your action and trigger that could be compromised by solvents. This is a very essential thing because many bore cleaners can cause havoc with your bedding. Also solvents can pool up in between your rifle and its stock and ruin the bedding.
The first Bore Guide you buy will come ready to go for any desired cartridge for just $65. Lets take for example the 308 in a Rem 700. Now let us say you later purchase a large 300WM built on a Rem 700 long action. All you need is a new tip, screw off the 308 tip and the insert the new magnum tip and you are ready to go with your 300WM. Tips cost just $25 ea and all of them will fit our basic Bore Guide body. When you purchase a Premier Accuracy Bore Guid, you are purchasing a system. That system has many attachments and if there is a chambering or special rifle that wont fit, simply bring Bill your rifle and he can custom make you a tip or any other bushing or rod guide to fit that special rifle.
There is also a bonus use to the Premier Accuracy Bore Guide. That is as a barrel cooling attachment. The only additional parts you will need is some 1/2in hose and a mattress pump. I found this pump for $12 on amazon and I see there are several versions available at any Walmart. Get rechargeable batteries. Also a cigarette adapter is a good option providing you have a long enough cord to run from you car to the bench.
So why do this? Simple, heat is the enemy of a barrel. When metal is hot it gets softer and barrel erosion starts to accelerate. On those hot days you can put your bore guid into the action and then pump air through the bore to cool it down. To attache the air pump just remove the rod guide from the back end of your bore guid and push the 1/2in hose over the end. Then let it pump air though the barrel. On hot days it will help reduce bore temperatures fast. There are even faster methods then this and we teach all of those methods in our reloading classes.
